Alistair Dray

I enjoy Joint Replacement of the Hip, Knee and Ankle, and general orthopaedics.

I have a subspecialty interest in Foot & Ankle Surgery and particular expertise in sports ankle injuries and modern day-case forefoot & bunion surgery.

I practise at Royston Hospital and Hawke’s Bay Hospital in Hastings, NZ.

Raised in Warkworth, educated at Auckland Grammar, I graduated from Auckland Medical School in 1992. I completed my NZ Orthopaedic Surgery Advanced Training at Hastings and Waikato Hospitals and gained my Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 2006. I gained broad experience during this time, in particular thorough training in Joint Replacement surgery and revision surgery.

I worked for 2 years as a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at Waikato Hospital consolidating this experience and performing many hip and knee replacements, prior to my appointment as Consultant at Hawkes Bay Hospital. I then undertook a further year of subspecialty training with 4 foot surgeons at the Surrey Foot and Ankle Fellowship http://www.footandankleclinic.co.uk/latest-news-from-surrey-foot-and-ankle-clinic/, where I was trained in modern foot and ankle surgery, including modern bunion surgery techniques.

I returned to Hawkes Bay permanently in 2010, and will be here to care for you for the next 20+ years of my surgical practice.
