Any surgery has small risks that need to be considered – if they occur, they can be serious. The most likely outcome is usually a good result, however below is a list of potential risks associated with this type of surgery.
Risks of Knee Replacement Surgery include:
Close to the time of surgery, the anaesthetist will contact you, and decide with you what is the best type of anaesthetic for you. Often, a spinal anaesthetic is best, as it reduces the risk of blood clots. You can also have sedation with a spinal, so it is not stressful. You usually need a bladder catheter if you have a spinal anaesthetic.
I am sorry that I am unable to give email medical or Xray advice. I am also unable to refer you directly to the public hospital waiting list. Please ask your GP to refer you to the public hospital if this is where you would like treatment.
